It is the highest-altitude zone, reaching 1,700 meters above sea level. It comprises the departments of Tupungato, Tunuyán, and San Carlos, which include, among others, the well-known localities of Vista Flores, La Consulta, Altamira, and Gualtallary, known for the high quality of the wines produced. With a temperate climate, a wide temperature range, and poor, rocky, and well-drained soil, they are characterized by their ability to produce high-quality grapes, with good tannins, color, and excellent balance between acidity and sugar, qualities that allow white and red wines to age for a long period and be enjoyed with the best views of the Andes.
